Working Principle
The vertically suspended probe of the PLR-30 Tilt Switch is designed to respond to external forces. When the probe deviates from the vertical position by more than 15 degrees due to external influence, the metal ball contact inside the switch activates, causing the normally closed contact to open. Once the external force is removed and the switch returns to the vertical state, the metal ball contact closes again. By detecting the change in the contact state, it can effectively monitor the working condition of equipment, enabling timely measures to be taken for safety protection.
Product Features
- Adjustable Alarm Output Time: The control device is equipped with an adjustable delay circuit ranging from 0 - 10 seconds, which effectively prevents false alarms caused by momentary tilting of the switch.
- Customizable Normal/Alarm Position: A jumper in the control device allows you to set either the vertical or tilted state as the normal state according to your specific needs.
- Multiple Structure Options: There are two structural forms for the tilt switch controller. The PLR38 is made of metal, while the PLR39 is made of plastic. Both have an IP65 protection level, and the front panel is equipped with indicator lights for easy status observation.
- Wide Temperature Adaptability: With a rated temperature range of -40ºC - +200ºC, it can operate stably in a variety of harsh environments.
- High - Capacity Output Contacts: The output DPDT contacts have a high rated capacity, meeting the control requirements of most industrial applications.
Application Areas
- Blockage Detection in Chutes or Transfer Points: Installed on the side walls of chutes where they are not affected by material impact, it can detect blockages. When materials accumulate and cause the probe to tilt beyond 15 degrees, the switch triggers an alarm, reminding staff to take timely actions to prevent further blockages.
- Lack of Material or No - Material Detection for Belt or Vibrating Feeders: Mounted above belt or vibrating feeders, it can detect insufficient or no material. When there is little or no material in the feeder, the probe tilts due to the lack of material support, triggering the switch to control the start and stop of the feeder and avoid idle running that may damage the equipment.
- Belt Conveyor Sway Detection: Installed on both sides of the belt conveyor, it can detect belt sway. When the belt deviates from its normal running path, it will push the probe of the tilt switch to tilt, sending out a sway signal so that the belt position can be adjusted in time to prevent belt damage and material spillage.
Installation Method
- Determine the Installation Location: Generally, install it on the side wall of the chute that is not impacted by materials. The normal installation position is usually about one meter above the side of the material discharge port. You can also choose a location where the probe will not be damaged and is convenient for maintenance.
- Fabricate the Switch Box: According to the actual situation of the installation location, make a suitable switch box to protect the tilt switch.
- Fix the Probe: Vertically suspend the tilt switch probe inside the switch box, ensuring that the probe can swing freely without any obstruction.
- Connect the Wires: Lead the connecting wires of the probe out through the wire - passing hole of the switch box and connect them to the control device, ensuring a firm connection and good contact.
